USA Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology

The Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (C2B2) is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the tropical marine environment surrounding the Philippine archipelago. Thus, the Center's research interest is focused on studying the diversity of culturable microorganisms thriving in marine sediments of Philippine archipelago and assessing their ability to produce new chemical scaffold or novel bioactive compounds for treating diseases relevant to our country which is tuberculosis, bacterial infections (Gram + and -), dengue, malaria, and cancer. C2B2 employs various experimental techniques that meld the disciplines of microbiology, genomics, chemical biology, biotechnology, natural products chemistry and metabolomics.
