Industrial IoT & Data Engineer

Apeirum is looking for a Data Engineer to work with our client, a Swiss startup redefining smart factories for manufacturing SMEs. Their mission is to transform traditional factories into intelligent, self-optimizing production ecosystems using Industrial IoT, Data, AI, and cloud technologies.

Tasks

Data Engineering & Machine Learning

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines for industrial telemetry.
  • Implement ML models for predictive maintenance and anomaly detection.

AI-Driven Manufacturing Optimization

  • Develop and improve AI agents that optimize production planning and supply chains.
  • Research and prototype emerging technologies
  • Lead pilot projects with universities or industrial partners

Software Development & IoT Architecture

  • Build microservices and edge applications for real-time machine connectivity.
  • Deploy hybrid/cloud Industrial IoT architectures, primarily on Microsoft Azure

Device & Data Integration

  • Automate IoT device deployment and ensure seamless data collection and KPI computation.
  • Integrate IoT devices with third-party systems

Process Optimization & Innovation

  • Analyze and optimize production workflows

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • 3+ years in Industrial IoT, data engineering, or cloud architecture (Azure preferred).
  • Strong Python, SQL, PySpark, C#, .NET and microservices experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT).

Mindset & Collaboration

  • Fluent in English
  • Strong problem-solving skills and passion for AI-driven automation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or industrial automation is highly valued.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup with a problem-solving, AI-first approach.
