Senior Water Design Engineer

CORE PURPOSE

1. Task leader for consulting engineering in water and sanitation related to engineering projects.
2. Tasks include planning, design, tender, construction monitoring of projects as well as general responsibilities with respect to marking, proposals and management of staff.
3. Working with Senior Site Staff to manage Project Administration and resolve technical issues arising on large multidisciplinary, multi-contract bulk water projects
4. Provide strategic direction of the water business and to grow the business from the established base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Programme work and set productivity targets in discussion with the Project Manager.
2. Obtain and confirm acceptance of appointments in writing.
3. Prepare time/cost estimates for clients on projects.
4. Plan and monitor progress of projects.
5. Manage and Perform design work as required.
6. Prepare project reports, specifications, minutes, correspondence.
7. Control the quality and productivity of work done.
8. Attend meetings with clients.
9. Ensure that specific client and project requirement are implemented.
10. Obtain and confirm detailed project briefs and prepare budgets.
11. Compile report and bids.
12. Ensure Construction Works are built to specifications.
13. Ensure quality of work is to acceptable standards.
14. Ensure accurate as-built records.
15. Assist with the Professional registration of junior staff.
16. Ensure conformance of the proposal to the clients requirements.
17. Review documents prepared by junior staff.
18. Manage project budgets in conjunction with the Project Manager.
19. Management of project quality.
20. Identify and secure new clients.
21. Prepare and Review Technical Contract Documents.
22. Prepare and Review Technical Design & documentation of projects involving the conveyance and treatment of both Water and Wastewater and associated technologies (e.g. water distribution, pump stations, pipelines and treatment plants)

REQUIREMENTS

1. Batchelors degree
2. Be registered as a PrEng Civil (Essential)
3. Registered The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SCAPCMP) (An added advantage
4. 15 + years experience in bulk water and sanitation infrastructure design experience i.e.: large water projects (essential)
5. Experience in Greenfield & Brownfield projects
6. Experience with GCC2015, SABS 1200 & & COLTO
7. Competent with Civil Designer, Civil3D & AutoCAD
8. Have experience in the preparation of reports and presentations
