Staff Engineer, Well Engineering

Responsibilities:

  • Mature well designs and evaluate the design options against the project objectives and value drivers following company Well Delivery Process and adhering to appropriate well design standards
  • Perform detailed well design calculations, including casing design, torque & drag, well trajectory, borehole stability, kick calculations, etc. utilizing industry standard software. Evaluate modeling results, identify design issues, and develop mitigations.
  • Prepare Well Functional Specifications, Well Technical Specifications and provide input for Well Proposals.
  • Prepare detailed drilling programs, time and cost estimates for the wells prior to spud.
  • Identify well construction materials, support services, and other long lead time items whilst ensuring these items are procured in a timely manner.
  • Provide daily engineering support to the rig to ensure safe and efficient operations. Provide offshore engineering and operational support on the rig as required.
  • Track cost and schedule. Provide updates and look-ahead forecasts as required. Verify cost entries to ensure accuracy and identify issues.
  • Liaise with drilling service contractors and drilling material suppliers ensuring readiness for drilling operations
  • Collaborate with the Wells contract specialists to develop contract tender and farm-in documents, detailed scopes of work, contract ACVs, and perform tender technical evaluations.
  • Contract Holder for drilling related scopes
  • Organize and prepare Drilling Well on Paper (DWOP) exercise, after action reviews (AAR), and close-out documentation
  • Ensure drilling risks are identified, mitigations developed, and communicated to the rig team.
  • Capture operational best practices and lessons learnt. Ensure these are incorporated into drilling program and cascaded to the rig team.
  • Prepare and submit permits, NOOPs, and other required regulatory documentation in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to peer reviews, technical challenge workshops shareholder technical reviews, cost reviews, and NPT discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Well Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 2 years in a drilling operation position directly responsible for managing offshore drilling activity
  • Holder of IWCF Level 4, Supervisor Certificate for Surface BOP Stack
  • Proven ability in oil and gas well designs, knowledgeable about latest developments related to drilling and completions.
  • Experienced in offshore well construction operations and proven ability to oversee daily drilling operations.
  • Strong operational focus and understanding of personal and process safety
  • Thorough understanding of well control, well barriers, and MOC
  • Knowledgeable in CWI operations, including Well Integrity Management
  • Experienced in simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) offshore 
  • Good analytical, communication and writing skills, with PC fluency.
  • Skilled in using industry standard well engineering software and interpretation of results.
  • Prior experience working with tender assisted drilling rigs would be beneficial
