Sr Strategic Research and Analytics Specialist

The Senior Strategic Research and Analytics Specialist is responsible for conducting in-depth market research, creating a baseline on the BUs performance, and performing data analysis to inform key business decisions and strategies. They leverage data-driven insights to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, ensuring that the organization remains competitive and aligned with market needs. This role also involves inter-departmental collaboration in consolidating data to support strategic planning and optimize business performance.

This role will work with Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Plant Operations and the Strategic Research & Analytics Manager in building and maintaining the BUs database to support the formulation of strategic recommendations.

KRA 1. Conduct of studies and analytics on FDCUIs operations

Gather and interpret data to create reports that summarize patterns and support recommendations such as updating systems, procedures or protocols to improve productivity and profits

  1. Operational Statistics and Performance Metrics:
  • Gather operational data on power generation, transmission, and distribution efficiency.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as grid reliability, outage frequency, response times, and energy loss percentages.
  • Analyze maintenance schedules, equipment performance, and capacity utilization rates.
  • Assess the efficiency of renewable energy integration versus traditional energy sources.
  • Review regulatory compliance statistics, environmental impact data (CO2 emissions), and sustainability metrics.

KRA 2. Conduct of studies on industrys best practices, benchmarking with industry peers, and understanding customers needs.

  1. Industry Best Practices Analysis:
  • Assess the latest advancements in power generation (renewables, smart grids, etc.) and energy storage.
  • Identify best practices for operational efficiency, energy conservation, and customer service.
  1. Competitor and Customer Research:
  • Identify key competitors in the energy sector and analyze their market share, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Investigate the customer base (residential, commercial, industrial) to understand energy consumption patterns.
  • Assess competitor pricing models, energy plans, and customer satisfaction to inform strategic planning.
  1. Pricing Trends Analysis:
  • Analyze historical pricing trends for electricity in various regions, factoring in market forces, fuel costs, and government policies.
  • Investigate the impact of external factors (e.g., fuel price fluctuations, carbon taxes, renewable energy incentives) on pricing models.
  • Benchmark pricing strategies against competitors.
  • Monitor wholesale electricity market pricing and determine how it affects retail pricing for consumers.
  1. Supply and Demand Analysis by Area/Region:
  • Gather geographic data on power supply and demand across different regions or service areas.
  • Evaluate the availability and reliability of power sources (renewable vs. non-renewable) in each area.
  • Forecast future demand based on population growth, economic development, and environmental factors.
  • Assess the distribution networks capacity to meet demand and identify areas requiring infrastructure upgrades.
