Position Overview:

We are seeking a Fire Suppression Design Engineer to join our team in Harrison, OH. This role involves designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with local, national, and manufacturer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fire protection design, with expertise in AutoCAD and a desire to obtain NICET certification.

We are open to hiring either a Senior Level or Junior Level candidate depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Design and Compliance:
   • Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD and proprietary software.
   • Ensure designs adhere to local, national, and manufacturer requirements.
   • Create and update project-specific drawings and operation manuals.
2. Field Collaboration:
   • Survey job sites to ensure proper system design and installation.
   • Direct contractors on system installation and operation.
3. Project Implementation:
   • Read, review, and implement customer-supplied project specifications.
   • Assist with system startups, commissioning, and inspections when required.
4. Training and Continued Education:
   • Attend manufacturer training classes and continued education programs.
   • Stay updated on industry standards and advancements.
5. Process Improvement and Support:
   • Assist office staff with engineering-related tasks, including process improvements.
   • Collaborate with teams to enhance system performance and project outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in the fire protection industry.
  • Proven experience in designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems (not limited to sprinkler systems).
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting.
  • Knowledge and experience with 3D design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Desire to learn industry standards and improve processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
• Certifications: NICET certification or willingness to obtain it.
