Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SCADA Engineer specializing in PowerOn Reliance and C++ programming. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in the power and utility sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Santa Ana, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:
    • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to analyze requirements and design SCADA systems using PowerOn Reliance.
    • Develop custom modules, libraries, and components using C++ programming for enhanced functionality.
  2. System Integration:
    • Integrate SCADA systems with field devices such as PLCs, RTUs, and IEDs using C++.
    • Execute testing procedures to verify system functionality and performance.
  3. PowerOn Reliance and C++ Proficiency:
    • Configure and customize PowerOn Reliance applications.
    • Develop HMI screens and complex logic and control algorithms.
  4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
    • Identify and resolve technical issues related to SCADA systems, PowerOn Reliance, and C++.
    • Perform routine maintenance, system upgrades, and software patching to ensure optimal performance.
  5. Cybersecurity and Risk Management:
    • Implement security measures to protect SCADA systems from cyber threats.
    • Develop secure coding practices using C++ to enhance system security.
  6. Documentation and Training:
    • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system architecture and configuration details.
    • Train and support end-users to ensure proficiency in operating and maintaining SCADA systems.
  7. Project Management:
    • Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to achieve project goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a SCADA Engineer with a focus on PowerOn Reliance.
    • Hands-on experience with C++ programming and SCADA systems.
    • Experience integrating SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and IEDs.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SCADA concepts, protocols such as DNP3 and Modbus, and communication technologies.
    • Expertise in configuring PowerOn Reliance applications, developing HMI screens, and designing control algorithms.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and secure coding techniques in C++.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Relevant certifications in SCADA systems, PowerOn Reliance, or C++ programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity measures for SCADA environments.
  • Experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
