System Engineer - Hybrid

We currently have a vacancy for an System Engineer (Linux)fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Belgium. The work will be carried out either in the companys premises or on-site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated with the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major clients IT team on site.

Your tasks:

• Practical validation and implementation of the solutions recommended or designed by the Software or Infrastructure Architects;
• Design, development, tests, documentation, release control, maintenance and technical support of infrastructure software components and services matching the specifications;
• Proof of concept, prototyping of infrastructure solutions;
• Technical responsibility for infrastructure development projects;
• Provision of technical studies, technical expertise, technical evaluations in relation with Information Systems infrastructure;
• Production of technical documentation;
• Assistance with configuration of the system for production deployment and in training administrators and users.

Requirements

• University degree in IT combined with relevant IT professional experience of 7 years;
• Good knowledge of web applications, apps back-end applications, infrastructure script, or other development area, as required to perform the specified tasks;
• Experience in component-based and service-oriented applications development or configuration;
• Understanding modelling languages or tools (e.g. UML);
• Knowledge and experience in administration of the Linux system operating system, in particular Red Hat Linux 8+ (installation, firewall and maintenance scripts);
• Knowledge and experience with Docker, Kubernetes and/or Podman;
• Knowledge and experience in administration of the Apache HTTPD server, including SSL;
• Knowledge and experience in configuring file transfer systems SFTP server (e.g. ProFTPD) and/or Rsync;
• Knowledge and experience in administration of the Tomcat Java Application Server;
• Knowledge of relational database management of MySQL/MariaDB (installation and general maintenance);
• Knowledge and experience in AWS public cloud hosting;
• Knowledge of Oracle DB is an asset;
• Knowledge in Python scripting is an asset;
• Ability to understand, speak and write French will be an advantage;
• Excellent command of the English language.
