Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is focused on transforming services and business models to support the evolving needs of the industry. They are looking for a System Design Engineer to join their team and help realize their vision by creating innovative services that enhance customer operations in terms of productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

Role Overview:
As a System Design Engineer (also referred to as System Leader), you will lead the design, development, and deployment of solutions in collaboration with other subject matter experts. Your role involves reviewing customer needs, identifying potential technological solutions, analyzing options, and anchoring the final solution with stakeholders throughout the company.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of embedded and mobile wireless systems solutions.
  • Review customer requirements and identify suitable technological solutions.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and select the best options to meet customer and business needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to ensure alignment on system concepts.
  • Define system concepts for overall services, including embedded systems and communication between control units.
  • Work with Driver Times services initially, with potential involvement in other areas.
  • Coordinate with other teams responsible for the actual development after defining the system concept.

Experience and Skills:

  • 7-10 years of experience in product development or system engineering.
  • Experience working with embedded or mobile wireless systems.
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet and CAN technology.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and experience with software download over-the-air (OTA).
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle transportation and understanding of customer needs is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and working within a flexible environment.
  • M.Sc. degree in Electrical Electronics or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to define overall service concepts, including embedded systems and communication strategies between control units.
  • Excellent analytical and evaluation skills for technological solutions.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Driver Times services, vehicle apps, and off-board communication processes.
  • Ability to lead and define system concepts without direct involvement in coding.
