Consultant Lead System Engineer ADAS / Autonomous Driving


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the functional development of autonomous vehicle functions. The role involves requirement breakdown, software design, documentation, implementation, testing, and verification, with a focus on developing advanced features within specific technical domains. This position is ideally suited for individuals recognized as experts in their field, typically with 12+ years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead functional development, covering:
    • Requirement Breakdown: Analyze and decompose requirements for development.
    • Software Design: Plan, architect, and implement complex software systems.
    • Implementation: Hands-on software development and integration.
    • Testing Verification: Ensure systems meet requirements and performance standards.
  • Specialize in a technical domain, which may include:
    • Vehicle systems
    • Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
    • Combustion
    • Engine Aftertreatment
    • Electromobility
    • Powertrain control
    • Control theory
    • Mechatronics
    • Diagnostics
  • Lead system engineering efforts within a technical team and ensure the delivery of high-quality, market-ready systems.
  • Integrate workstreams and contributions from various teams to ensure cohesive system development.
  • Play an active role in shaping the technical roadmap during the early development stages.
  • Build and maintain a strong network across the organization and external partners, influencing development efforts at multiple sites.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance internal competence and contribute to business development within the organization.
  • Mentor and educate others, sharing expertise both internally and externally to strengthen technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in functional development or a related discipline, with demonstrated expertise in any of the above-mentioned technical domains.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead system engineering teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Expertise: Recognized within the industry as a thought leader, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Market Awareness: In-depth understanding of current market trends, including the ability to stay ahead through strong internal and external networks.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to develop and execute technical roadmaps.
  • Strong communication and networking skills to influence across sites and departments.
  • Experience in early-stage development cycles, with a focus on securing quality and technical readiness before product release.

  • Senior Expert: The candidate is expected to be a master contributor within the organization, educating and developing others, while also providing thought leadership in their area of expertise.
