About the role
At Brite Payments, we’re looking for a seasoned Cloud Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to be the backbone of GCP competence within our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in architecting, optimizing, and scaling our cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency across our organization. As a key team member, you’ll focus on enhancing our GCP environment, empowering product teams with the tools, practices, and resources they need to effectively manage their products throughout their lifecycle.
This position emphasizes hands-on work with GCP infrastructure and services. You’ll lead efforts in designing a solid, scalable, and cost-effective platform, setting the standard for GCP best practices and enabling our product teams to operate with efficiency and confidence.
What You Will Do
Architect and Optimize GCP Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain a resilient, scalable, and secure GCP environment that supports Brite Payments’ growth, focusing on cost-effectiveness and reliability.
Provide GCP Expertise and Leadership: Serve as the team’s GCP authority, helping drive effective and innovative use of GCP services, such as AppEngine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and others.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, enabling efficient resource provisioning, scaling, and management.
Establish Monitoring and Reliability Standards: Create robust monitoring and alerting practices with tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
Optimize Cloud Costs and Resource Usage: Continuously evaluate and apply strategies to enhance resource utilization on GCP, ensuring infrastructure is both cost-effective and efficient.
Enable Self-Service and Automation: Develop self-service tools and automated workflows that empower product teams to manage their own resources independently, enhancing efficiency and reducing dependencies.
Champion SRE and Reliability Best Practices: Promote Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles within the team, fostering a culture of stability, reliability, and proactive system management.
Support Deployment and Operational Workflows: Work to ensure that GCP infrastructure aligns with deployment and operational requirements, providing guidance on CI/CD workflows, automation, and cloud-native development practices.
Required Skills
Deep GCP Knowledge: Proven expertise in architecting, implementing, and managing GCP infrastructure, including practical experience with services such as AppEngine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
Infrastructure Automation Proficiency: Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to drive efficient and scalable cloud management practices.
Monitoring and Observability Experience: Strong background in using tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana for maintaining system health and visibility.
Containerization and Orchestration: Proficient in containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration to support efficient scaling and resource usage in cloud environments.
Scripting and Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash, enabling you to create scalable and reusable automation solutions for cloud infrastructure management.
Performance Optimization Abilities: Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving performance issues within cloud infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.
Incident Management Experience: Familiarity with incident response practices and a proactive approach to minimizing service interruptions and maintaining uptime.
Preferred Skills
Cost Management and Optimization on GCP: Experience implementing strategies to control cloud costs, including efficient resource scaling and usage optimization on GCP.
CI/CD Workflow Knowledge: Familiarity with CI/CD practices, enabling product teams to streamline deployments and improve reliability using cloud-native tooling.
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Principles: Knowledge of SRE best practices and experience in applying them to improve operational resilience and platform stability.
Cloud-Native Development Insights: Understanding of microservices architectures and the best practices for building, managing, and scaling applications in a cloud-native environment
