About the role
At Brite Payments, we're seeking an experienced leader to drive our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead the team in providing a platform for our engineering teams to build their products upon, and that the team operates effectively as a support and enabling function in line with Team Topologies.
What you will do
As a Tech Lead for Platform Engineering, you will:
Lead the Platform Engineering Team in its daily work in agile methodologies, solution discovery, technical implementations, deliveries, knowledge-sharing, supporting engineers, and scaling tools practices for high adoption-rate within the department through focusing on improving the developer experience.
Collaborate with Engineering Teams and meet their individual needs in order to enable their self-sufficiency in the full lifecycle of software development.
Define Platform Strategy by contributing to roadmaps and architectures that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability and sustainability.
Drive Platform Automation by improving cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and security, with a focus on minimizing operational overhead.
Facilitate Best Practices in GCP, ensuring the team leverages tools and methodologies that maximize scalability, reliability, and security.
Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement by supporting teams in adopting DevOps and SRE methodologies to streamline operations and boost delivery speed.
Mentor and Coach Team Members to foster technical growth, to maintain a supportive collaborative engineering culture, to encourage leadership, and distribute responsibilities effectively. As a Tech Lead, you will empower team members to take on ownership of key initiatives, nurture a bottom-up approach to share the load and build cross-functional capability within your team of complementary skills and personalities.
Required Skills
Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success leading both technical cultural work in building enabling platforms and support systems for engineering teams.
You have your competence in either cloud operations, or devops: You either come from a strong cloud operations background, or you have extensive experience from product development and modern ways of working.
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with tools such as Terraform and automation frameworks for deployment and configuration management.
Containerization Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Docker and orchestration tools like Google Cloud Run, AWS Fargate/ECS, or similar.
Monitoring Logging: Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, Datadog) to ensure platform reliability and performance.
CI/CD Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
Operational Excellence: Experience applying SRE principles, with a focus on uptime, scalability, and continuous improvement.
Communication Skills: Strong communicator, with the ability to work effectively across teams to foster alignment and collaboration.
Preferred Skills
GCP Cost Management: Experience with budgeting and optimizing cloud expenditures.
Database Management: Knowledge of database management on GCP, including performance optimization, scalability, and security.
Incident Management: Familiarity with incident management processes and frameworks.
Automation Scripting: Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python.
Microservices Architecture: Strong understanding of designing and scaling microservices in a cloud environment.
