Electrical Engineer (F&B)

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly organized and efficient Electrical Engineer to support electrical project design execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical engineering practices within an industrial environment, particularly related to systems in the Food and Beverage industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design, and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, and other materials for procurement and construction purposes.
  • Design, develop, validate, and oversee the installation of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Create electrical designs for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Develop electrical power and distribution design concepts in collaboration with architects, engineers, and owners.
  • Design lighting and modeling, fire alarm systems, communications systems, and process control systems.
  • Manage projects related to electrical infrastructure and power distribution (up to 44kV).
  • Analyze technical problems and make decisions and recommendations accordingly.
  • Prepare specifications, contract documents, and engineering progress reports.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and client standards.
  • Provide technical supervision to junior engineers and technologists, including design reviews and mark-ups.
  • Prepare detailed designs for high and low voltage system requirements in primary and secondary power distribution.
  • Conduct applied research to optimize solutions for clients.
  • Travel to construction sites for electrical inspections and report preparation.
  • Provide consultation both in-house and on-site as required by the client.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the food or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Previous experience in electrical systems design within a consulting environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with intricate distribution systems and cogeneration integration is beneficial.
  • Experience with the Ontario Ministry of Labour Pre-Start Health and Safety Review is an asset.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Working knowledge and experience with industrial HVAC controls.
  • Thorough understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Proven skill in trade-off analysis.
  • Must possess own transportation and be willing to travel to client sites.
