Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Position Overview:

A global leader in electronic security systems, has been innovating in the field for over 40 years. Headquartered in Amityville, Long Island, NY, we are looking to expand our Engineering team with a skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer. This role will focus on developing software and firmware for ARM-based microprocessors used in high-stakes security solutions, including fire and burglary alarms, access control, and home automation systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise embedded software systems to meet project specifications and design requirements.
• Collaborate with development and marketing teams to outline features, specifications, and performance targets, creating efficient software architecture and firmware.
• Develop and code firmware for cutting-edge security products using C.
• Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and implement improvements iteratively, ensuring robustness and strong performance.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in embedded software and adopt new technologies as appropriate.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation supporting software development processes.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development for microprocessor-based systems.
• Proficient in C programming and ARM microprocessors.
• Familiarity with development environments like IAR.
• Background in creating communication protocols for wireless systems.
• Experience with Wireless/RF Microcontrollers (e.g., TI1310) is advantageous.
• Hardware design and/or security industry experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
