Join Our Team as Sustainability Manager

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to make a tangible impact in the timber industry? One of northern Europe’s largest producers of timber mouldings is looking for a Sustainability Manager to lead our sustainability agenda and drive our commitment to sustainable stewardship.

Role Overview

As Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for continuously developing and driving our sustainability agenda while ensuring that our operations comply with both internal and external Codes of Conduct.

You will be part of an international team with colleagues in several locations and countries of our business and integrate sustainability into all aspects of our business, from sourcing and production to sales and distribution.

You will preferably live in or around Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, Trondheim or close to one of our locations and have the possibility to work remotely 2-3 days/week. Travels to our different locations will be important.

You will work closely with our business units. You will report to the group CEO in Estonia.

Your key responsibilities include

  • Driving and defining our sustainability program, including setting targets and KPIs, in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution.
  • Leading initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance resource efficiency, promote sustainable forestry practices, ensure employee health and wellbeing, and strong business ethics.
  • Collecting, analysing, and reporting sustainability data to track progress and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Contributing to compliance with EU regulations such as CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), and ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards).
  • Managing sustainability labelling, including FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), and EPDs (environmental product declarations) for wood products to meet industry standards and consumer expectations.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies, to advocate for sustainable practices and foster partnerships.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure our sustainability practices are cutting-edge.
  • Promoting a culture of sustainability within the organisation through training, awareness campaigns, and employee engagement.

We believe that you have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior sustainability role, with a proven track record of creating sustainability impact in business, preferably within the timber or manufacturing industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change as well as to manage and coordinate cross-functional projects and teams.
  • Experience from working with a wide range of sustainability topics like: Climate, Biodiversity, Health Safety, Sustainable Sourcing, Human and labour rights in the Supply Chain, and Business Conduct.
  • Experience with sustainability labelling for wood products such as FSC, PEFC and Breem and work with EPDs.
  • Strong understanding of regulations, standards and guidelines like GHG Protocol, CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures), EUDR and best practices within the sustainability field.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, interact with, and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication presentation skills in English – spoken and written.
  • Proficient in collecting, analysing, and reporting sustainability data with an eye for details.
  • Academic degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced skills in the MS Office pack.
