Team Leader

Summary:
The ETP Team Leader will be expected to pro-actively drive operational excellence by operating and improving the reliability and efficiency of the ETP assets at a site in Ledbury.

The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the ETP process equipment continually operates at the optimum level, whilst maintaining operator communications, establishing operational reviews and ensuring the timely completion of PM tasks and organising the repair of failed equipment with the NSI UK Maintenance Team. The ETP Team Leader will also be expected to provide support to the Site Manager by taking responsibility for timely provision of information, organisation and reporting to the client.

Critical to the success of this role, will be the day-to-day leadership, management and continued development of a cohesive ETP team, resulting in a proactive attitude and approach to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for improved working conditions and potential cost savings for NSI and the customer.

An integral part of the plant improvement plan will be the implementation of operational excellence programmes and meaningful KPI’s.

The role will include providing operational holiday cover if required throughout the whole holiday year and potentially working on a shift pattern during ‘busy season’ from approximately early September until late November.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of health safety and environmental standards in a food and beverage environment to both NSI and customer standards
  • Ownership and reporting of HSE, Operational and Maintenance KPIs
  • Direct line management of Operators, ensuring required training programmes are in place for their technical and professional development
  • Visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI
  • Ensure compliance with EA permit for discharge to watercourse and consent to discharge to sewer 
  • Control of costs and productivity of operational staff and sub-contractors in accordance with client budget, NSI Procedures and PO’s
  • Preparation of financial documentation such as purchase orders for subsequent approval by the Operations or Regional Manager. 
  • Control of any subsequent orders to ensure that equipment arrives on time and within budget.
  • Control and management of hire equipment onsite
  • Analyse process risk within the context of long-term contract and manage to minimise
  • Identification of improvement opportunities on the plant, working with internal and external parties to reduce risk through plant improvement projects
  • Assume personal ownership of higher risk non-routine activities within the ETP
  • Build recognition with the client for Operational Excellence and efficiency
  • Develop strong relationships with key Customer personnel – HSE, Utilities, Site Manager, Engineering, Team Leaders
  • Recognise improvements / gaps in the operation of the ETP plant and where authority allows, implement improvements
  • Seek to develop and implement Optimisation Projects
  • Provide support to the Site Manager and liaise directly with Planning Manager and Asset Care Coordinator to devise realistic and timely planning for completion of key operational activities – including statutory requirements
  • Manage ETP operations to ensure cost effective treatment facilities are maintained and organised, by training and developing the ETP team
  • Development and Management of operational procedures and basic competency training for Operations Technicians
  • Manage day to day issues for operators, including welfare, conduct, behaviour training and development
  • Carry out personal development reviews and agree personal performance plans in
    accordance with Company procedures
  • Support the development of the ‘NSI’ culture of ownership, involvement and accountability for operational excellence
  • Management of multiple subcontractors for project/upgrade works including arranging for quotations and planning in works
  • Develop SOPs, RAMS, CoSHH and other documentation related to the safe and effective operation of the ETP

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Operational leadership experience within an industrial setting
  • Technically biased with knowledge of biological wastewater treatment
  • A detailed working knowledge of water/wastewater and sludge treatment plants
  • Experience of leading all aspects of a team of operations technicians
  • Experience of directing teams and organising sub-contractors
  • Leadership and other practical hands-on delivery
  • Self-management on critical process plant
  • Working to strict HSE systems with high level of personal accountability
  • Operational problem solving and diagnostics (using technical literature)
  • Safety Passport/IOSHH/NEBOSHH (desired)
  • Training in Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety systems

Working for us means: 

  • The salary is between £36,000 £40,000 per year, depending on your professional experience
  • Bonus up to 10%
  • Hours of work - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 
  • Holidays – 25 days + 8 statutory 
  • Probationary Period – 6 months
  • Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 4.5% and Employer 4.5% via salary sacrifice
  • Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation
  • Enrolled in Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment
  • Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter
