Graduate Research Assistant (Chemistry)

Graduate Opportunity - (1 year FTC) Support investigation of new product lines

The Research Assistant- Chemistry will work with a diverse team of scientists and will have the help and supervision of other research scientists. You will be responsible for the execution of experiments related to Research Development projects, helping in the development of methodologies and techniques necessary for the completion of the experiments, accurate record keeping, and reporting of results.

As a Chemistry Research Assistant, you will contribute towards the chemical development of bioseparation products used for the purification of therapeutic proteins. In this role, you will be responsible for performing experiments to support chemical synthesis and process optimisation of adsorbents featuring immobilised small molecules and proteins as ligands for bioprocess chromatography adsorbents.


Responsibilities:

  • Conducting practical experimental work to facilitate product development, synthetic process optimisation, assay validation and production support
  • Evaluation of results from experiments including analytical interpretation and statistical analysis where required 
  • Documentation of experiments in writeups and technical reports
  • Presentation of experimental data to RD project teams and other internal departments at project meetings
  • Routine equipment maintenance
  • Upholding health and safety requirements
  • Other related duties/responsibilities as required or assigned by the supervisor


Qualifications/Skills and Experience

  • BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • This role would suit graduates keen to learn/enthusiastic about chemistry with an interest in furthering Bioproduction through the innovation of he next generation of chromatography tools
