Director of Administrative Systems

Summary

The position leads and manages the Administrative Systems Team in the Learning Resources and Technologies (LRT) area that provides support and ensures the efficient and effective use of Northwestern Michigan College software data systems, including numerous software systems that comprise the administrative infrastructure at NMC, the core of which is the Ellucian Banner system.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Required)

10+ years of related experience (Required)

Broad understanding of enterprise database systems (Required)

Experience in supporting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Student Information System (SIS) (Preferred)

Experience with PL/SQL, Java, and/or Groovy (Preferred)

IT management experience in higher education (Preferred)

Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures (Preferred)

Master’s degree (Preferred)

Working knowledge of and experience in application integration (Preferred)

Working knowledge of business intelligence and/or data warehousing (Preferred)

Essential Responsibilities

  • (Critical) Manages the team that develops, implements, and supports enterprise and departmental administrative applications, including but not limited to, the University’s ERP system (Ellucian Banner – Student, Financial Aid, Finance, Human Resources, Banner Document Management Suite, Self Service, Recruiter, Degree Works, Reporting), multiple instances of Oracle, CollegeNet’s Series 25 scheduling system, Evisions FormFusion, SilkRoad talent management systems, Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge advancement system, and other onpremise and hosted systems.

  • (Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.

  • (Critical) Collaborates with other Learning Resource and Technologies departments in the management of the overall NMC technology infrastructure and serves as a member of the LRT leadership team.

  • (Critical) Collaborates with College leaders to identify, prioritize and manage strategic and operational projects that involve administrative systems.

  • (Critical) Supervises the implementation, modification, and support of administrative software and new systems, and reviews modifications to administrative systems.

  • (Critical) Prepares and manages the department’s budget to ensure department budget planning and business plan development efficiently utilizes the financial resources of the college and promotes innovation in the department. Also, participates in division and institutional planning and budgeting.

  • (Critical) Supports the reporting and business intelligence needs of academic and administrative departments.

  • (Critical) Performs business process analysis to recommend enhancements or modifications to administrative systems.

  • (Critical) Develops IT policies and procedures surrounding administrative systems and their respective data.

  • (Critical) Stays uptodate with new technologies and provides recommendations for future upgrades and/or updates to new technology.

  • (Critical) Promotes the creative use of technology to improve productivity and enhance customer service across the campus.

  • (Critical) Serves as a project manager and may provide direct support for one or more of the systems.

  • (Critical) Promotes processes and policies to continuously improve the level of data integrity and security in administrative applications.
