Chemical Dependency Counselor, LCDCIII

Full-time LCDCIII position responsible for providing advanced substance abuse counseling services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapy and education to clients with substance use disorders.  Will work with individuals, families and groups to assist clients to overcome addiction and maintain recovery.

Work on site is required as scheduled with the Program Director primarily Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required.  This position is classified as FLSA non-exempt paying $30.00 hourly; overtime and mileage reimbursement is applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct client assessments to evaluation substance use, mental health conditions and client needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs, goals and circumstances.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and group counseling sessions for clients struggling with addiction.
  • Provide immediate support and intervention during crisis situations involving substance use or mental health emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential client records in compliance with federal, state, accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Facilitate educational sessions for clients and their families regarding substance use and prevention and recovery strategies.
  • Work with clients to develop relapse prevention plans and coping strategies for maintaining sobriety.
  • Coordinate care with other internal and external professionals, legal entities and support groups as required.
  • Advocate for the client’s need within the treatment program and within community resource interactions.
  • Provide guidance to lower level interns or trainees when applicable.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree coupled with relevant Ohio LCDCIII credentialing;
  • Prior experience working with substance use disorders;
    • Group therapy experience preferred;
  • Provide a minimum of 1,248 patient service hours annually (104/month);
  • Fulfillment of company credentialing requirements; 
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile and excellent driving record are required; and
  • Pre-employment criminal background check and drug testing are mandatory
