Data Quality Specialist

The Data Quality Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data within the organization’s systems. This position is responsible for data entry, maintenance of electronic health records (EHR) and system integration, database management, reporting and assistance with database development including queries, forms, reports and macros.

Responsibilities will include assistance with conducting quality inspections, audits and performing testing to identify deficient services through review and data analysis to provide accurate feedback.  May require collaboration with different departments to meet and support the Quality Assurance team to maintain its data quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry and Management:
    • Accurately enter, update and maintain data within the organization’s EHR and other databases.
    • Ensure all data is entered in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards and procedures.
    • Regularly review and validate data entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • EHR Maintenance:
    • Assist in the regular maintenance of EHR systems, ensuring all patient records are up-to-date and error-free.
    • Identify and correct any discrepancies or errors in the EHR.
    • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure data integrity within patient records.
  • Database Development and Maintenance Assistance:
    • Design, develop and maintain databases to support organizational needs.
    • Create and optimize queries, forms, reports and macros to enhance data management and reporting capabilities.
    • Perform routine checks and updates to ensure databases are functioning optimally.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any database issues.
  • Checks and Balances:
    • Conduct regular audits and quality checks on data to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
    • Implement and monitor checks and balances to detect and prevent data errors or discrepancies.
    • Report any data inconsistencies or potential issues to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Reporting:
    • Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for management and other departments as needed.
    • Analyze data trends and present findings to support decision-making processes.
    • Prepare detailed documentation of data entry and quality assurance processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, including IT and healthcare teams, to ensure data quality across systems.
    • Assist in training staff on data entry and maintenance procedures as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and management to address any data-related issues.

 Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in field of computer science, information technology or related, technical field required.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated experience with data entry, EHR maintenance or database management.
    • Demonstrated experience in database development, including creating queries, forms, reports and macros.
    • Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
    • Familiarity with EHR systems and database management software.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
