PRIMARY FUNCTION
Performs a variety of imaging procedures including CT, x-ray, DEXA, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and mammography when appropriate. Responsible for patient safety in accordance with organizational policies and established professional practice standards.
Complies with department and organization-wide policies, Critical Access Hospital requirements, Safety, and Infection Control, and all Federal and State of Colorado regulations related to the performance of Keefe Memorial Hospital operations and requirements of the compliance program.
SIGNIFICANT DUTIES
- Operates imaging equipment in compliance with manufacturerâs specifications, selecting proper technical factors based on the patientâs body habitus, pathology, age, and physical limitations. Perform recommended quality control procedures.
- Provides radiation protection for patients and fellow employees following the ALARA principal.
- Demonstrates anatomy requested per examination adhering to department examination protocols and standards of care.
- Demonstrates competency in clinical function related to assessment, treatment, and care of patients. Prepares completed images for reading by interpreting physician. Demonstrate competency in using all software applications necessary in completing daily work.
- Performs other departmental duties including, but not limited to scheduling appointments, answering the phone, transporting patients, restocking, and cleaning.
- Participates in department call rotation as assigned.
- Performs patient transfer in a safe manner.
- Reviews patient history and interpret the information to evaluate the appropriateness of the exam ordered.
- Performs venipuncture on patients receiving intravenous contrast media.
- Adheres to facility policy on safe administration of contrast media, accessing patient lab values related to kidney function prior to indicated exam. Is knowledgeable in the use of intravenous contrast media and how to recognize adverse reactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
