A Mental Health Clinician is a trained mental health professional who specializes in providing therapy and counseling to individuals, couples, families, or groups. They work with clients who are experiencing various psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues that may be impacting their overall well-being and quality of life. The primary role of a Mental Health Clinician is to facilitate the healing and growth of their clients by creating a safe and supportive environment for them to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They employ various therapeutic approaches and techniques to help clients gain insight into their challenges, develop coping strategies, and make positive changes in their lives. Mental Health Clinicians typically have an in-depth understanding of human behavior, emotions, and mental processes. They often possess a master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. They may also have specialized training in specific therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, family systems therapy, or mindfulness-based approaches. Mental Health Clinicians may address a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, addiction, self-esteem concerns, stress management, and more. They conduct comprehensive assessments of their client's needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and regularly evaluate progress. Building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect is crucial for Mental Health Clinicians. They actively listen to their clients, provide nonjudgmental support, and offer guidance and feedback to help clients gain insight, develop healthier perspectives, and make positive changes in their lives. Confidentiality and ethical conduct are essential principles in the practice of psychotherapy. Mental Health Clinicians are bound by professional codes of ethics and legal obligations to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of their client's information, except in specific situations where there is a risk of harm to the client or others. Overall, Mental Health Clinicians play a vital role in promoting mental and emotional well-being, helping individuals navigate life's challenges, and empowering them to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. 

Roles and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of a Clinician is to provide counseling and therapy to individuals, couples, families, or groups. This involves conducting assessments, listening actively, and engaging clients in therapeutic conversations to help them explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Clinician is responsible for:

  • Offering therapeutic services to predetermined caseloads established by Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC. 

  • Regular attendance in weekly, biweekly, and any pre-scheduled meetings agreed upon between client and clinician.

  • Conduct regular therapy sessions with their clients, either in person, online, or through other means of communication. 

  • Communicate with referral sources in support of specific client needs. 

  • Create a safe and supportive environment for clients to share their concerns, explore challenges, and work towards personal growth and healing.

  • Collection of HIPAA-compliant documentation, including but not limited to releases of records, contractual agreements, or any other important documents related to client caseload. 

  • Agreement to participate in legal proceedings and arrangements under the supervision of Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC.

  • Routine attendance & supervision in meetings required by Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC.

Clinicians are responsible for developing individualized treatment plans and collecting data based on their clients' needs and goals. They collaborate with clients to identify areas of focus and establish objectives for therapy. Treatment plans may include specific therapeutic interventions, techniques, or modalities. Clinician is responsible for:

  • Establishing a unique treatment plan specific to client needs. Clinicians are encouraged to provide treatment with roots from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy. Clinicians may utilize any other eclectic form of treatment based on best practice, ethics, and clinical judgment.

  • Routine note taking and data assessment. Clinicians will take HIPAA compliant notes on each individual client session. Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC will provide note-taking training and documentation procedure on a regular basis with said clinician.

  • Monitor changes in client symptoms, behaviors, and overall well-being to determine the effectiveness of the treatment and make adjustments as needed. Clinicians are encouraged to utilize any effical research assessment to gather information about their client.

Clinicians are responsible for the  legal and ethical obligation to maintain the confidentiality of client information. They must adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines established by their respective licensing boards or professional organizations. Please follow licensing requirements, rules and regulations by the Board of Allied Health Professionals and the National Board of Certified Counselors. 

Clinicians are responsible for collaboration with other healthcare professionals. This collaboration ensures comprehensive care for clients, particularly when addressing complex mental health issues or co-occurring disorders.

  • Collect all necessary documentation including but not limited to releases of records, notes, and HIPAA-compliant record keeping.

  • Utilization of confidential means of communication including but not limited to confidential phone calls, emails, and fax communications.

  • Clinicians are responsible for providing client information to collaborating parties ONLY with written authorization from said client and/or their guardian.

Clinicians are responsible for engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance their knowledge and skills. This includes attending workshops, conferences, and training programs, as well as staying updated on the latest research and advancements in the field.

  • Clinicians have authorization to work under the license of Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC, and/ or their License in Mental Health Counseling or as a Licensed Independent Social Worker.

Clinicians have a responsibility to prioritize their own well-being and engage in self-care practices. This allows them to maintain their own emotional and mental health, which in turn enhances their ability to support and care for their clients.

  • Clinicians are responsible for maintaining their own self-care initiatives. Golden Hour Counseling, PLLC reserves the right to ask clinicians to step down/take time off in lieu of concerns related to clinician wellbeing or other related self-care initiatives.

Compensation is determined by experience, level of education, and certification. Part-time clinicians are paid at an hourly rate with incentives to build their caseload into a ‘full-time’ schedule. Full-time Clinicians are paid at a commission-based rate depending on their level of experience. Clinicians will be compensated weekly via direct deposit.
