Construction Superintendent

Key job responsibilities
The Data Centre Construction Superintendent will be responsible for construction project management and oversight of construction related activities as they relate to new builds or general capital projects which includes the ownership of the project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.

Some of the typical daily tasks of the Construction Superintendent:
- Direct interface with construction general contractors during the execution of the construction and project closeout/punch list phases.
- Conduct meetings with general contractors and evaluate daily activities with detail and accuracy.
- Execute construction project scope and request for changes.
- Reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with the construction of new data centres.
- Construction document management including submittal review, RFI’s, change orders, and timesheets.
- Construction project quality control.
- Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
- Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with execution or process failures.
- Leading within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data centre.
- Meeting or exceeding Decon Controls’ leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meeting or exceeding Decon Controls’ functional/professional depth and complexity for this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science OR 5+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years of experience in management of projects.
- 2+ years of general project and vendor management experience (request for proposals, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- 2+ years of experience reading drawings, scopes of work and specifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Understand basic engineering principles including reading drawings and directing Request for Information/Change requests.
- Possess clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions.
- Able to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines.
- Supervise data center construction daily tasks, specify/document performance and process requirements, create/communicate construction planning and schedules, and create/maintain project documentation.
