Diesel Mechanic

Tasks

To ensure performance optimisation in the Technical and Non-Technical Divisions of the DTSA Dealer Network, through the provision of legislatively aligned training interventions and assessments. The latter must be supported by Organisational Development Interventions, Performance Consulting and Collaborative Relationships with all stakeholders, whilst ensuring compliance to the Company's Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) requirements, Delegation of Authority and organisational processes.

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

• Inspect diesel engines and systems to detect and diagnose mechanical and electronic issues. (MB, OF BUS and FUSO)
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify problems in engine performance, fuel systems, and electrical components.

Engine Repair and Maintenance:

• Repair or replace parts in engines, fuel systems, transmissions, and braking systems to keep vehicles running smoothly.

Electrical and Electronic Systems:

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including starters, batteries, alternators, and lighting systems.

Fuel and Emission Systems:

• Maintain and repair fuel systems, fuel pumps, injectors, and exhaust systems to meet performance and environmental standards.
• Perform diagnostics on emission control systems to ensure compliance with Daimler and regulatory standards.

Technical knowledge & Support:

• Provide technical support to assembly line (production)
• Provide technical advice to team members on vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Collaborate with DTSA engineering department, source plants and other technical staff to solve complex electrical issues.
• Stay up to date with technological advancements in vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.

Quality:

• Test vehicle mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with Daimler standards and safety protocols.
• Document routine work, repairs performed and give feedback.
• Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure functionality and reliability.

Health and Safety:

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations in the workplace.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Wear appropriate PPE and follow protocols to prevent accidents.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 +Diesel Trade Certificate
• Daimler product technical courses (Advantageous)
