Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Battery System Engineer to join our dynamic team in the commercial vehicle industry. As a Battery System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of cutting-edge battery systems for electric vehicles. You will be responsible for managing the design, development, and testing of Battery system and ensuring their integration into our eTrucks and eBuses.

Key Responsibilities:

Battery System Design and Development: Lead the design and development of advanced Battery for electric vehicles, ensuring robust and efficient battery performance. Define Battery system and Battery Management System specifications, architecture, and control algorithms to meet safety, performance, and reliability requirements Oversee the development of hardware and software, including the selection of components and sensors, battery modeling, and state-of-charge estimation Testing and Validation: Plan and execute comprehensive testing and validation procedures for Battery components, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. Collaborate with testing teams to validate Battery performance in various environmental and operational conditions. Configure and set up Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing systems for validation and verification. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in Battery System design and functionality, leading initiatives to enhance system performance and efficiency. Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and robustness of Battery components in electric vehicles. Address any issues or failures promptly, providing effective solutions to maintain high product quality. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of Battery System designs, development processes, and testing results. Prepare regular progress reports and present findings to project stakeholders and senior management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in Battery System development, preferably in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
  • Strong knowledge of battery technology, electrical systems, and control algorithms.
  • Experience with battery cell modeling and state-of-charge estimation algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • English (must), Japanese (preferred)
