Introduction of Procurement

With 130 members located in headquarter in Japan, the Procurement Daimler Trucks Asia team is one of the largest procurement organizations in the county.
The goal of the Procurement group in Japan is to achieve a benchmark material cost position and continuous supply at the highest quality level in close collaboration with the R&D, Production and Quality departments.

 ■Your mission

As an operative buyer for a given commodity, target to establish sustainable supply chain with suppliers all over

the world and work on achieving not only short term but also mid-long term commercial contribution to the company.

 ■Your challenge and development

By collaborating with colleagues from other Daimler group companies, you can develop more dynamic and strategic approaches for supplier sourcing and negotiations with suppliers. Also, you can be involved with different kinds of project management, which may require to have frequent communications with cross-functional team within the company such as R&D, supplier management, quality, production, cost engineering etc.

There will be opportunities to visit overseas suppliers and Daimler Truck affiliates as well as domestic suppliers. There will be lots of great opportunities expected in order to develop professional skill and knowledge of procurement and supply.

Responsible for project lead in selecting estimates for next-generation suspension systems, which is a strategic activity of the Purchasing department.
With a responsibility of approximately 600 million yen per year, the mission is to conduct global RFQs and build a competitive structure.
We aim to negotiate prices with potential suppliers, conduct technical verification, and reach agreements with relevant internal departments.
The expected start date for mass production will vary depending on supplier development and in-house testing lead times, but this is a large-scale project aiming for 2025.

 ■Your responsibilities

- Operative buyer for supplier sourcing for a given commodity

- Price reduction activities to drive your commodities towards a sustainable supply solution that fulfills the requirements of cost, quality, and delivery

- Be involved with lead buying workshop for your responsible commodity along with business partners from Germany, USA, India, Indonesia, Brazil, China, and Turkey in other procurement units in Daimler group

- Launching up new model on time

- Establish supplier, commodity, component strategies for best price, improved quality, and ensured delivery

- Supplier evaluation activities

- Supplier relationship management

- Risk management

At least, more than 2 years of experience in Manufacturing industry.

- English : business level required, but conversation level also applicable
