Compliance and Company Ethics MFTBC is part of Daimler Truck Legal/Compliance organization (TL), and is responsible for overseeing and driving the effective rollout of policies, processes and tools designed to ensure compliant and ethical behaviors within MFTBC, its subsidiaries and affiliates. We identify potential compliance risks of the company (e.g. in business models) and remediate those risks with adequate measures. We also support MFTBC management and respective offices in meeting the compliance responsibilities of their day-to-day business. This support includes consulting, but also ongoing communication and training on compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Compliance staff member mainly responsible for Data Protection / Data Compliance topic. You would be the first point of contact for all Data Protection / Data Compliance related inquiries with internal and external exposure.

Your scope of work would be Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) and its two domestic subsidiaries Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing (MFBM) and PABCO.

You would be coordinating, implementing and maintaining an effective Compliance Management System for Data Compliance area in accordance with Daimler Truck’s corporate requirements and local laws and regulations. In other words: you would be protecting the Company and its people from harm!

This includes…

• Creating and sustaining awareness and a common understanding of Data Protection / Data Compliance on unit level through various means of communication and interactions
• Conducting Compliance risk assessments according to Daimler Truck standards, effectiveness monitoring and reporting
• Being the first point of contact for all Data Protection / Data Compliance related inquiries, consultations, contract review requests; if necessary, align within the Compliance Trucks Asia Team, with Legal or other relevant parts of the global TL network
• Developing and sustaining effective unit governance structures and procedures for Data Protection / Data Compliance oversight and management, including defined accountability for Compliance responsibilities
• Implementing and maintaining of processes, clear standards of business and ethical conduct consistent with Daimler Truck corporate standards (for example close collaboration with IT on data governance / data security area)
• Supporting the local management in assuming and executing its responsibility to implement and maintain an effective Compliance program on unit level in accordance with corporate Compliance Program requirements and local laws and regulations
• Obtaining support and collaboration from management and all employees
• Ongoing, effective communications and training on compliance requirements for internal stakeholders
• Implementing risk based control procedures based on Daimler Truck Compliance standard
• Constantly challenging and developing the Compliance Management System (both on HQ level and locally) further, looking for the most effective and risk adequate solutions for our internal customers

Qualifications

• University degree from a law school. Type of university degree: LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws degree) or equivalent.
• Passing the Lawyer Practice Program / Attorney License / LL.M (Masters of Law degree) is a plus
• Knowledge of Japanese Data Protection laws and regulations: Knowledge of GDPR is a plus.
• Appropriate knowledge and experience in Legal, Internal Audit, Accounting or similar of advantage
• Good understanding of business needs in order to support the business owners in creating feasible solutions in complex and international environment
• Experience in Data Protection related function: knowledge about connectivity services / connected vehicles are a plus
• Demonstrated integrity within entity/business unit and detailed knowledge of Daimler Truck Code and other relevant internal policies, guidelines
• Fluent in spoken and written Japanese and English
• High level of self-motivation and organization, willingness to be empowered
• Management and Leadership skills, including the ability to articulate Daimler standards and expectations as outlined in the relevant policies and codes, and ensure that these are applied consistently to the local situation
• Strong communications and facilitation skills, ability to convince
• Experience talking in front of Groups (delivering trainings)
• Analytical thinking and results-oriented
