Ximena Caminos, an Argentinian curator, said to Dezeen that the ReefLine project aims to create a framework that would facilitate the natural colonization of corals and sponges, so enhancing biodiversity in an area that is now devoid of marine life and consists mostly of sandy terrain. Currently, we are investigating the possibility of transferring corals that have been cultivated in a nursery to the structure as part of the University of Miami's Rescue-a-Reef initiative. The ReefLine will include of geometric concrete modules that are vertically arranged 20 feet below the ocean surface and conform to the natural features of the seabed. The artwork will be constructed at a distance of 900 feet from the coast and will stretch from the northern part of the city to South Beach.
