Special Education Teacher

Special education teachers work with students who have physical, mental, emotional, or learning disabilities. They develop individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, which address their unique strengths and challenges. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. Your goal will be to help your students overcome learning barriers and maximize their ability to learn and thrive in school.

Your students will vary in age from grades K-3, as determined by the school district. Their challenges may range from mild-moderate to severe-profound and the level of intervention they require will be determined on a case-by-case basis, according to the parameters outlined in their individual education plans (IEP).

Qualifications:

  • Valid CA State Special Education Teaching Certifications in level R3MM (Level 1 Mild to Moderate)or R3MS (Level 2 Moderate to Severe).

  • Ability to work with a team and have objectivity and openness to others views

  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills

  • Ability to accept and apply feedback to improve performance

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent attendance history and strong work ethic.

  • Experience in coordinating, writing, and implementing behavior intervention plans and IEPs.

  • Ensure compliance with laws requiring data-driven decisions.

  • 3rd grade
