Role Purpose  

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and strategic individual to fill the role of Head of FP&A, Strategy and Performance Management.  This role will report directly to the CFO and play a crucial role in the development, articulation, monitoring and reporting of strategic planning, decision-making, and performance measurement across the Bank. The role holder will influence strategy by considering capital and liquidity risks and will ensure that the Bank is compliant with relevant statutory and regulatory reporting.  As a key strategic member of the Finance team, the role holder will play a significant role in driving business growth through the provision of robust analysis, market intelligence, competitor analysis and business evaluation.  The role will be responsible for the Bank’s financial policies and project management to ensure effective strategic project delivery, value realisation and operational excellence across all functions to optimise equity value alongside driving growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

Strategy, Business Partnering and Governance

  • Work in partnership with the CFO, Bank CEO and Senior Executives to initiate and implement Bank strategy.
  • Plan, direct and organise activities in areas of responsibility by ensuring accountability and transparency, lean processes and organisational best practice.
  • Act as a commercial business partner to the Executive team to ensure profitable development whist maintaining the values of the Bank.
  • Encourage creative business model and strategies to further develop the profitability of the Bank.
  • Set high standards of control for all operational activity and implements clear measurement and is fully appraised of current performance, trends, market development, threats and opportunities.
  • Monitoring and direct the implementation of Strategic Business Plans
  • Conduct quarterly Competitor analysis and develop business intelligence reports to position the bank competitively.

Financial Planning & Analysis.

  • Provide timely and accurate critical analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts, to include monthly, quarterly and annual accounts.
  • Monitor and report on financial and operational performance, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives and decision making.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive benchmarking to support decision making by Executive Management.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate potential financial risks in a timely manner

Performance Management

  • Develop and implement performance management frameworks and provision of KPI data to track and improve business performance and technical support for annual appraisals
  • Provision of support and insights for Monthly Performance Review Sessions for Executive Management.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize performance and achieve financial targets.
  • Partner with all senior stakeholders and business unit heads to measure and drive key performance metrics.

Experience:

Technical

In-depth knowledge and experience of:

  • Significant experience with regulatory environment and main financial disciplines including financial planning, strategic planning, MIS, budgeting, forecasting and trends, financial reporting and performance measurement.
  • International exposure and experience of operating in a global regulatory environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in financial management and risk assessment.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.

Key Performance Indicators

1. Strategy and Business Intelligence:

Provide insightful analysis and reports for subsidiary/regional Board and Executive management sessions. Provide insightful data that would drive performance using the business intelligence data of competitors.

2. Budgetary Control and Business Partnering:

Develop budget guidelines, timelines and templates. Work with the EXCO/Strategic Business units to cascade approved budget to business offices and account officers.

3. Financial Analysis & Planning Implementation & Governance: 

FP&A governance Group Audit Rating of Finance, Internal Audit of Finance teams (Financial Control, Reg reporting, Governance documents). Build and manage financial analysis across the bank and ensure accurate planning and financial reporting.
