Operation Theatre Staff Nurses (OR Staff Nurses)

Qualifications

•     Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

•     3 years of experience in the same Field Outpatient Department.

•     Dataflow is a must.

•     Saudi license holder is a plus.

•     Fluent in English.

Job description:

• Assess patients before surgery (e.g. NPO status) and alleviate their concerns.
• Gather all supplies needed for the operation.
• Assume responsibility for keeping the operating room sterilized.
• Position and prepare patient on operating table according to the different type of operations.
• Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation.
• Monitor patient’s vital signs to detect anomalies.
• Organize patient transportation from the OT to the recovery room and carry-out and/or supervise all the postoperative activities to prepare the OT for the next scheduled operation or emergency.
• Assist the surgeon and anesthetist during the operation, anticipating their needs in order to facilitate their job; with the nurse anesthetist, monitor the vital parameters of the patient
• Evaluate patient in postoperative phases.
• Adhere to safety standards and precautions.
• Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned.
• Apply aseptic and sterile techniques to medical instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery.
• Alleviate patients’ concerns by answering questions and providing postoperative care instructions.
• Assist surgeon during procedures with duties such as passing medical equipment and monitoring patients’ vital signs.
• Prepare patients for surgery by disinfecting their skin at the operation site and positioning them on the operating table.
• Update patient files and medical records.
• Identify different types of instruments and recognize the needed instruments for all different surgeries.
• Administer medications with proper way related to operation theatre and in hard situations
• Identify sign in ,time out and sign out according to World Health Organization standards.
