Job Title      Head- Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QSHE) 
Reports to      MD 
 
Position Overview: 
The Head of QHSE will lead with a vision to embed a robust safety culture and sustainable environmental practices across all levels of the organization. The Head of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment occupies a critical leadership role within the organization, tasked with overseeing and elevating the company's HSE standards. This role is pivotal in strategically shaping health, safety, and environmental policies and practices, ensuring they not only comply with but exceed local, national, and international regulations and standards.  
 
Key Areas of Responsibility: 
Strategic Leadership in Safety Management: 
•    Develop a strategic vision for the organization’s QHSE culture and initiatives. 
•    Oversee the creation and implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and best practices. 
 
Organizational HSE Goals and Performance Measurement: 
•    Establish high-level QHSE goals for the organization, aligning them with business objectives. 
•    Monitor and evaluate QHSE performance across the organization to ensure continuous improvement. 
•    Policy Development and Compliance Oversight: 
•    Formulate and update QHSE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards. 
•    Oversee compliance audits and ensure effective management of change processes. 
 
Risk Management Leadership: 
•    Provide strategic direction for hazard identification and risk assessment processes. 
•    Ensure the implementation of effective risk mitigation strategies and safety protocols. 
•    Develop emergency response plans and conduct regular safety drills. 
 
Equipment and Safety Infrastructure: 
•    Guide the strategy for safety equipment management and infrastructure development. 
•    Ensure regular audits and updates to safety equipment and practices. 
•    Continuous Improvement and Quality Management: 
•    Lead organization-wide continuous improvement initiatives in QHSE practices. 
•    Advise on the integration and improvement of Quality Management Systems with HSE objectives. 
 
Training and Competency Development: 
•    Define the strategic framework for HSE training programs and competency development. 
•    Collaborate with HR to ensure alignment of training with regulatory and organizational needs. 
•    Strategic Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: 
•    Develop high-level communication strategies for QHSE matters. 
•    Foster effective inter-departmental collaboration and external stakeholder engagement. 
 
High-Level Reporting and Analytics: 
•    Oversee the development of QHSE reporting systems for insightful analytics and decision-making. 
•    Communicate key QHSE metrics and insights to the executive team and stakeholders. 
•    Incident Management and Response Strategy: 
•    Lead the strategic approach to incident management, trend analysis, and preventive actions. 
•    Oversee the development of emergency response plans and ensure readiness for implementation. 
 
Environmental Stewardship: 
•    Set the strategic direction for environmental management and sustainability initiatives. Assurance and Compliance Verification: 
•    Ensure the effectiveness of the QHSE assurance program and compliance verification processes. 
 
Strategic Contingency Planning: 
•    Develop and oversee contingency and emergency response strategies. 
 
QHSE Management: 
•    Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s QHSE policies and procedures in line with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001). 
•    Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with QHSE regulations and identify areas for improvement. 
•    Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and lessons learnt.  
Others:  
•    Must have detailed working Knowledge of necessary permits.  
•    Expert in Scaffolding parameters and application procedures.

•    Operations and Project heads 
•    Site Supervisors 
•    All Site Staff 
•    Field Personnel 
•    Operations staff from other departments (Sales, Maintenance, Transport, HR etc.) 
External 
•    Customers and Project Representatives 
•    External Auditors 
•    Site representatives at customer location. 
 
Knowledge/experience/skills/personal attributes ESSENTIAL: 
•    18 +yrs of relevant working experience in QHSE roles for the service industries; (including leading HSE heads of various locations) 
•    Managerial Experience gained in a similar working environment and role. 
•    Certified Training in HSE and ISO IMS 
•    Self-motivation, ability to work under pressure within a team environment, good communication skills, professional attitude and long working hours.           
DESIRABLE: 
•    NEBOSH certified 
•    Multi-site operations experience 
•    Experience in setting up Safety Plans from basics 
•    BE / B.Tech from a recognized institute + Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute. Or ME/ M.Tech in Safety would be an added advantage. 
 
Soft Skills/Computer Literacy: 
•    Leadership: Demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities, capable of guiding and inspiring teams towards achieving HSE goals. Exhibits a strong presence and confidence in decision-making, with the ability to influence and motivate employees at all levels of the organization. 
•    Negotiation Skills: Skilled in negotiation, capable of effectively communicating and bargaining with various stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal teams. Able to find common ground and resolve differences to achieve optimal outcomes for HSE objectives. 
•    Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, for creating reports, presentations, and managing data effectively. 
•    SAP (Complementary): Familiarity with SAP software is advantageous, as it may be used for managing HSE-related data, processes, and workflows. 
•    Action Tracking Software: Proficient in using action tracking software to monitor and manage HSE tasks, ensuring timely completion and compliance with policies. 
•    Audit Planning & Implementation Tools: Experienced in utilizing specialized software tools for planning and implementing HSE audits. Able to leverage these tools to streamline audit processes, ensure thoroughness, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
