Claims Reserving Actuary
A leading African reinsurance company seeks a Claims Reserving Actuary to enhance its actuarial team. This pivotal role focuses on managing and optimizing the claims reserving process, ensuring both accuracy and regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic claims management to boost business profitability and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and refine the claims reserving process, ensuring reserve adequacy and methodological robustness.
- Regularly review and adjust reserves based on emerging trends and data changes.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS17 and other regulatory standards.
- Analyze claims data to support strategic decision-making and prepare detailed actuarial reports for senior management.
- Utilize advanced data analytics tools to increase reserving accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the risk management team to assess and mitigate claims-related risks.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication of reserving methods and outcomes.
- Provide technical actuarial support for complex claims and participate in continuous professional development to stay current with industry trends.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree or professional qualifications (FIA, FSA) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in actuarial roles with a focus on claims reserving.
- Expert knowledge of IFRS17 and regulatory frameworks, with a proven ability to manage complex risks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
Eligibility Requirements:
