About the Project:
Our Engineering Enablement Department aims to accelerate our teams worldwide. We strive to provide teams with a set of tools and services to unlock their full potential. In short, we enable them to deliver quality customer value quickly and autonomously. The tools and services we provide are built with and for our engineering community.
As an engineer in engineering enablement, you will build products and platforms for our engineers. You will contribute directly to creating a state-of-the-art, self-service ecosystem of products and automation. This role will support the teams by ensuring the current streaming platform (hermod) is up and running, onboarding users, and making improvements to the platform.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain an asynchronous messaging system for seamless communication.
- Provide a superior SaaS messaging solution for use by other teams and projects.
- Offer support to other projects for message-processing and stream-processing activities.
- Engage in the development and enhancement of message and stream processing components within a Kafka-based messaging platform.
- Manage and provide the messaging platform as a service to other application teams (onboarding).
- Collaborate with product/application teams to optimize and improve their legacy systems. Must be proactive with good stakeholder communication skills.
- Partake in on-call duties to provide timely resolution of issues.
- Implement unit tests to ensure the reliability and stability of the platform.
Technological Proficiency:
- Practical and in-depth knowledge of Kafka.
- Java background, but not necessary to be a Java developer.
- Proficient in a diverse set of technologies including Azure, Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker, and Kafka (Strimzi and Confluent).
- Familiarity with Debezium, Maven, and SpringBoot.
- Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL (a plus).
- Work stack primarily around Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Helm, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Bash, ArgoCD, Docker, Kafka Strimzi.
- Usage of GitHub for code versioning and Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable working with Linux, log aggregation tools, and Elastic stack.
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for metrics monitoring.
- Usage of Opsgenie and ServiceNow for incident handling and IT Service Management.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
