The feature "Homeoffice" at Google for Jobs
Due to the current Corona crisis, working from home is becoming more and more existential. As seen on Google Trends, there was a high increase in searches related to home office, especially in March 2020. So it's fitting that Google has added a new feature to its Google for Jobs tool.
The ability to flag job ads as home office activity
When asked if it is possible to search directly for home office jobs and how this can be made identifiable, Google for Jobs provided a simple answer. A new feature was released by Google for Jobs a year ago, which now allows home office jobs to be explicitly stated in job ads. This changes the location to "Any Location." This offers the advantage that job seekers can now apply for jobs across the country without having to change their home location. Likewise, it offers companies the benefit of presumably receiving more applicants for jobs. It also expands the job market in times of pandemic without increasing the risk of infection.
Of course, it was already possible to post jobs in the home office, but the new feature offers a clear overview and a recognizable differentiation between home office and work in presence. In addition, applicants can now also select Home Office in the Location filter, which simplifies the search for jobs from home immensely.
Large job boards such as Stepstone, Xing and Indeed also offer numerous home office jobs. However, if you search for them on Google for Jobs, you will hardly find a job that is marked with the home office feature.
Attention: If you place your job ads on Stepstone, Xing or Indeed and you want them to appear on Google for Jobs as a home office job, you should also publish your ads directly on Google for Jobs.
